What is Matrixyl 3000® & Why did we add it to our Peptide Cream?

Matrixyl 3000® is the first to have developed Matrikines, extracellular matrix-derived peptides, which are exact replicas of natural skin Matrikines*. They act like cell messengers able to regulate the sequence of events required for skin repair & wound healing. Matrikine is a technical term describing oligopeptides and protein fragments that are generated during the macromolecule breakdown process (phase one). Some of the fragments thus generated possess stimulating and signaling activity in a feedback loop, initiating the repair process of the tissue matrix, hence the name. These peptide fragments participate in wound healing as natural, non-toxic, locally acting, highly potent messengers.

Is Matrixyl 3000 ® better than Retinol?

Matrixyl 3000 and Retinol have very similar effects. However, Matrixyl 3000 doesn’t seem to cause the side effects that retinol is known for triggering.

Matrixyl 3000® - by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, works in conjunction with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to fill in fine lines and wrinkles while restoring elasticity. In clinical trials, Matrixyl 3000 achieved:

• 33% decrease in wrinkle density
• 23% decrease in volume of wrinkles
• 20% decrease in depth of wrinkles

Matrixyl 3000® - Sederma didn’t put together palmitoyl oligopeptide and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 randomly. According to their research, these two peptides have an incredible synergy that makes them work dramatically better together than on their own.

In a small human study with 24 volunteers, Matrixyl 3000 worked much better than the placebo treatment and Matrixy. Here are the results after 2 months of daily use:

• 14% reduction in skin roughness
• 15% reduction in wrinkle depth
• 15% increase in skin tone
• 18% reduction in wrinkle volume
• 37% reduction in wrinkle density

Another Study: In early 2013, for example, researchers at the University of Reading found that Matrixyl nearly doubled the amount of protein collagen needed to give skin its elasticity.
