Irish Moss or Sea Moss is a type of red algae. Irish Moss is so nutrient-dense that it was used as “poverty food” during the famous Irish Potato Famine of 1846 - 1848. Irish Moss has been enjoying a revival for numerous years now due to its many health benefits. Traditionally used as a cold remedy, the use of Irish Moss for respiratory ailments is recorded in Ireland way back in 1810. Irish Moss was also used widely in the treatment of tuberculosis and pneumonia.

Irish Moss studies & testing show is a bit of a superfood. It has a higher fiber content than most vegetables, which is a good thing, as fiber has all kinds of positive effects on the body. It can improve blood sugar control; help lower your cholesterol and reduce your risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

Studies show that sea moss may help lower bad cholesterol, which is one of the factors for heart disease, and has also been shown to help lower blood pressure, another key factor in heart health.

Anecdotal benefits for fertility. There’s no scientific evidence that sea moss specifically promotes fertility in men or women. However, some people use it as a traditional fertility treatment. Scientists need to investigate this further.
