Iodine with Kelp Is indicated for hypothyroidism, goiter caused by
deficient iodine intake, and those wanting to prevent or early treat iodine
deficiency. For those with hypothyroidism, Iodine with Kelp can help
increase energy levels, and reduce fatigue, mental sluggishness, and weight
gain. Since normal thyroid function and thus sufficient iodine levels are
required for proper fat and cholesterol metabolism, Iodine with Kelp can
also reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. It is also helpful for maintaining
the health of your hair, skin, and nails.
Iodine with Kelp combines Potassium Iodide, a form of iodine that is easily
and quickly taken up by the thyroid gland, and Kelp, a brown algae that is
rich in iodine and other important vitamins and minerals, including
calcium, magnesium, potassium, niacin, riboflavin, and choline. Kelp also
contains algin, a polysaccharide that has been used to help pull out
intestinal toxins and heavy metals.
Iodine is a trace mineral required for the production of thyroid hormones
that regulate the metabolic energy of the body and set the basal metabolic
rate (BMR). Iodine must be obtained regularly from the diet, as the body
does not store the mineral and eliminates it quickly.
Most of the iodine in the body is concentrated in the thyroid. A small
percentage is also found in the muscles, skin, bones, and blood. The two
main thyroid hormones, T4 (thryoxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine) contain
roughly one-fourth of thyroid iodine and the rest is in the precursor
molecules of these hormones. The thyroid hormones are responsible for the
body’s use of energy, known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The hormones
are critical for cell respiration and the production of ATP energy. T3 and
T4 are also required for normal growth and development, protein synthesis, and energy metabolism.
Because the thyroid stimulates energy production and the basal metabolic rate,
it influences nearly all body functions, including reproduction, mental
state, nerve and bone formation, and the condition of the skin, hair, nails,
and teeth. Thyroid and iodine levels also affect cholesterol synthesis,
carbohydrate absorption, and the conversion of RNA to protein and carotene
to Vitamin A.
Iodine may also help the body deactivate unwanted toxins and bacteria and
thus be important in immune support.
Some believe that insufficient iodine levels can increase the risk of
certain cancers, such as breast, ovary, and uterus. Low iodine levels may
also be found in those with fibrocystic breast disease.
Iodine deficiency is common, especially in areas where the soil is
depleted. Just a few months of iodine deficiency can lead to goiter,
hypothyroidism, and decreased thyroid function, which results in a slower
metabolism, fatigue, weight gain, sluggishness, dry hair, thick skin, poor
mental function, decreased resistance to infection, a feeling of coldness,
and a decrease in sexual energy.

100% TESTING OF INGREDIENTS AND PRODUCTS
- FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) – helps identify chemicals or compounds.
- GC (gas chromatography) – measures chemical spectrum and potency, and is often used for testing essential oils.
- HP-TLC (high-performance thin-layer chromatography) – identifies the genus and species of a plant.
- HPLC (High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography) – isolates chemical markers to measure the potency of a plant compound, vitamin, or mineral.
- ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) – quantifies the amount of heavy metal in a raw material or product.
- Microscopy – helps identify the genus and species of whole botanicals by looking at cell structure.
- Macroscopy –identifies the genus and species of a whole plant.
- Microbiological testing – shows the count of aerobic bacteria, yeast, mold, e-coli, staph, and salmonella in raw and finished goods.
- Organoleptic – uses taste, color, and smell as quality markers in raw materials and finished goods.
- Titration – measures vitamin or mineral potency.
- UV-VIS (ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy) – measures the amount of a specific compound in a plant.
